Homeoprophylaxis is a debated but historically documented approach in homeopathy. It’s not the same as vaccination, but the idea is to give the body an energetic reminder of a disease patter so it can respond more effectively if exposed.

A nosode is a homeopathic preparation made from diseased tissue, discharge or pathogen material (virus, bacteria etc) which is then diluted and potentized until it contains no physical pathogen – only the energetic imprint.

Some examples:

  • Morbillinum – Measles
  • Influenzium – Influenza
  • Coxsackinum – Coxsackie
  • Pertussin – Pertussis
  • Streptococcinum – Strep

Nosodes are often used during outbreaks or before high-risk exposure to stimulate an energetic awareness in the system.

This is based on the law of similars – the nosode resembles the disease pattern, prompting the body to mount a more efficient defense.

For example, if HFMD is spreading in your child’s school, you may consider giving Coxsackinum 200c once weekly for 4 weeks during the outbreak. The goal is to reduce susceptibility or lessen severity if contracted.

Another example is strep. If there is a frequent exposure (hello, school emails warning it’s going around), giving Streptococcinum 200C once weekly for 4 weeks can also help reduce susceptibility or lessen severity if contracted. If your child was to test positive for strep, please see our homeopathy for strep post for acute support. Best results are when combined with constitutional support, cell salts and immune support.

For example, you may want to also consider Ferrum phos & Kali mur daily for general throat/immune support along side weekly Streptococcinum. Please note: potency and frequency vary depending on age, SUSCEPTIBILITY and exposure level.
